Mental Health Services & Substance Abuse Recovery in California

The Place To Build A New Life
After Your Outpatient Treatment Program

Sobriety is a life-long commitment to sober living that doesn’t end with the last day of an addiction treatment program or mental health services. It’s a long-term recovery journey that looks different for everyone.

Pursuing sober living can be a challenge for many. As professional, personal, relational, and academic challenges arise, it can become increasingly difficult to maintain one’s sobriety. A history of drug or alcohol addiction or substance abuse only adds to the intensity of the challenge.

What Can You Do? What Help Is Available? Sober living homes provide a safe and supportive environment for those struggling with substance abuse, use of drugs, and alcohol addiction to stay sober.

Residing in a sober living home provides a structured and supportive environment where patients can thrive in their sobriety rather than facing unnecessary challenges at every turn.

Independence Begins in A Sober Living Home.
Lasting Sobriety Begins At Psyclarity

What Is a
Sober Living Facility?

Sober living homes are designated living spaces or facilities designed to promote sobriety and sustainable addiction recovery. Sober living homes provide a safe and comforting space for individuals from all backgrounds and experiences to share their recovery journey together.

The intention behind every sober living home is to create an easier transition from Inpatient treatment or Outpatient programs into everyday living and sober activities. At Psyclarity, our sober living facilities offer minimal distractions and multiple opportunities for residents to engage with one another and focus on a recovery-driven lifestyle.

A sober living home or halfway houses delivers the necessary support system for those who are still on their journey to recovery and striving to create healthy habits, build a healthy lifestyle, and establish new daily routines. A sober living home provides space to heal and a solid foundation on which to build a new life and safely return home.

Are You Ready To Start Building A New Life For Yourself Or A Loved One?

What Does Life in a
Psyclarity Sober Living Home Look Like?

In order to provide a safe and healthy environment for every patient at our structured sober living facilities, we uphold a high standard of care and accountability. It is essential that all participants are prepared to adhere to this standard for their personal safety and relapse prevention, as well as that of their peers.

However, we understand the struggle that many of our patients endure. We are compassionate and understanding of a temporary lapse in judgment or an honest admission of relapse. This should be followed by a renewed commitment to sobriety and safety.

Abstinence from drugs and alcohol must be maintained, and our staff will regularly perform random drug testing as a precautionary measure. There will be an established curfew that must be adhered to, and participants must show high regard for other residents and our staff.

We require patients to commit to ongoing treatment, mandatory support groups, regular meetings, and participation in some house responsibilities and expenses. Pets and overnight guests are not allowed, and internet access is granted on a case-by-case basis.

The Psyclarity Sober
Living Home Promise

Supportive Housing & Sober Living Programs:
Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Here are some answers to the most common questions about sober housing.

Who Needs Sober Living?

Sober living is a transitional program for early recovery to help people transition from a treatment or rehab facility to their home. People coming to our treatment center from another area or those who feel their own home is not ideal for recovery can benefit from a sober living facility.

What Is the Difference Between a Sober House and a Halfway House?

Both sober living and halfway houses provide support and transitional living for people in recovery. These terms are used interchangeably, but they’re not the same thing. A sober living house is for people transitioning out of a substance abuse treatment program, while halfway houses are designed to help people transition from an institutional environment to independent living.

How Long Can You Stay in Sober Houses?

Everyone’s recovery journey is different. Some people stay in sober living homes for a few weeks, while others may feel that they need that level of support for a longer time period. You can discuss your concerns and expectations with your care team to determine how long you should stay in a supportive housing environment.

Can I Stay in Sober Housing If I Have an Active Addiction?

Sober living houses are alcohol- and drug-free environments to support everyone’s lasting recovery. If you’re still struggling with your addiction and actively using, a sober house is not conducive to your recovery. It’s also unhelpful to the others staying in the sober house to have a housemate actively using. Be sure to speak with your care team or the house manager if you relapse or fell back into patterns with addictive substances. It may be recommended for you to enter a more rigorous program.

What Happens After Sober Living?

Sober living is the lowest level of care before independent living. The programs and responsibilities with sober living teach life skills and support a smooth transition into daily life with a healthier and more productive outlook. While there’s no “step down” between sober living and independence, you can consider more rigorous treatment options if you feel that you’re not ready for that step.
