Frequently Asked Questions
About Residential & Inpatient Treatment
Below are answers to some of the most common questions related to inpatient and residential addiction and mental health programs in San Diego:
How Long Will I Need to Stay in Inpatient Treatment?
Drug treatment does not have a set timeline. Healing is unique to each individual. You can stay in inpatient treatment as long as necessary before making the transition to the next level of care.
Some people stay in inpatient for only a few weeks while others may stay a month or more. Our team of clinicians will closely monitor your progress in inpatient treatment and transition you to the next stage of your recovery as soon as you are ready.
What About My Family and Friends? Will I Get to See Them While I’m in Inpatient?
The large majority of San Diego inpatient programs understand the importance of remaining connected to your support system while you are in inpatient care. At Psyclarity, we believe that family systems are integral to your healing. You will be able to see your loved ones during designated visitation times and even ask them to participate in your treatment through family therapy.
What Happens After Inpatient Treatment?
After inpatient, you will likely transition to a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or outpatient care. In these settings, you will continue your recovery through the same modalities as therapies as inpatient, including CBT, DBT, family therapy, and more. The key difference, however, is that you will not be under 24 hour care once transitioning out of inpatient.
What Happens if I Relapse Once I Leave Inpatient?
If you find yourself actively using again or repeating harmful behaviors after you exit your inpatient program, it is vital that you speak with your care team immediately. Depending on your situation, changes in your treatment plan, including readmission to inpatient or repeating the detox program, might be necessary.
Remember: relapsing doesn’t mean failure, and it does not have to be permanent. You can come back from your relapse and recommit to your recovery.
Will My Health Insurance Cover Drug Addiction Treatment Services?
Most major insurance providers will cover treatment for detox centers and drug and alcohol treatment services. Or admissions specialists will confirm your benefits with your provider.
Are There Sober Living Arrangements Available While in Outpatient Treatment?
As you transition into an outpatient program, your care team may recommend that you live in a recovery-centric environment. Sober living, otherwise known as supportive living, is designed for those in active recovery. A supportive living environment means that you are surrounded by others who share in your experiences and have the same goals in mind: to turn the page and live a better life.
While living in a supportive living community, you will learn additional coping skills you will need when you live independently.
If you or a loved one are suffering from drug addiction, alcohol addiction, or co-occurring disorders/dual diagnosis, call and speak to our admissions specialists to learn more about life-changing treatment services.
